Who am I, to write to you?

Job 32:4-14, adapted: “Now Leach waited until he had checked dozens of commentaries and theologians, because  they had great authority and represented centuries of study. But when Leach saw that they left some of  the challenges of

God’s critics unanswered, he said, “Diplomas, credentials, titles, honors, and experience should speak, and others should listen and learn. But God also puts His Spirit of wisdom in all men, which should be heard. Because even if great men were always wise, there is more to be known than any few men can know. There is more brainpower in all than in a few. Pro 15:22, 1 Cor 12.”

Like the little boy in Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Emperor’s Clothes”, I see very good but overlooked answers to God’s critics in my Bible that others more learned than I do not acknowledge. I wonder how much of it is because they don’t want to suffer what I already have for speaking: marginalization, loss of fellowship, and reduced employment opportunities? With no guarantee other than faith, that these seeds will ever sprout in hearts?

But how can I be silent? The journey has been too exciting, the discoveries too inspiring, for them to all be nonsense. On the one hand I hesitate to speak for fear of spewing error, and on the other hand I must speak for fear of hiding light under a bushel. Not to mention Ezekiel 3:18-20. So, like 12-year-old Jesus, I am, through this book,  reaching out to the brightest minds in the world  to test what I have found.

My qualifications for writing on this subject: is everything I write right?

    No. Do you?

    Bible study on Credentials

The people were willing to make Jesus king, John 6:15, which would have given Him the worldly credentials to claim to be the Son of God, as Caesar did. But Jesus refused, wanting to be believed without worldly credentials, so the people picked up stones to kill Him. John 10:33.

Paul had his credentials in Jewish law, which he called “dung”, Philippians 3:8, and bragged of having no credentials in Christianity, which he preached, Galatians 1:16. Why?

Why were the Bereans “noble”, Acts 17:11, for giving a fair hearing to what at first glance seemed blasphemy?

Why did Josiah, the most righteous king, die because he “hearkened not unto the words...of God” from probably the unlikeliest man in the world to know anything about God, 2 Chronicles 35?

Why does 1 Corinthians 14 urge every church member to share the pulpit? Why does 1 Corinthians 12 go to extreme lengths to explain that every Christian has something vital to contribute to the Body, the Bride of Christ?

Apparently it is so important to God that the lowliest of us be given a fair hearing, that He often speaks through the lowliest, James 2:1-9, just to make credentials look foolish, 1 Corinthians 1:20.

I will try to remember these things as I receive critical mail about my book. I will look forward to learning from you.
